Two postdoctoral positions are available, funded by an ERC Advanced Grant entitled Active and Driven Systems: Non-equilibrium Statistical Physics (ADSNeSP), recently awarded to Prof Mike Cates FRS, the Lucasian Professor of Mathematics.

Applicants will have, or be about to receive, a PhD in theoretical physics or cognate area. These positions require familiarity with the concepts and methods of non-equilibrium statistical mechanics. Specific experience applying these to driven and/or active matter systems would be an advantage, as would be experience with some of the following methodologies: large deviation theory; stochastic thermodynamics; field theory and path integrals; stochastic PDEs; numerical methods for hydrodynamic and stochastic continuum models; computer simulation and analytic methods for particle-based models; coarse-graining and renormalization group approaches.
