The Centre for Networks and Enterprise (CNE), Edinburgh Business School (EBS), Heriot-Watt University is hosting a workshop and a ‘brownbag’ research discussion on Wednesday 14th November 2018.
Instructors: Dr Yasaman Sarabi and Dr Arek Dakessian, postdoctoral researchers at the CNE.
In this workshop, we will discuss the various centrality measures in social network analysis. The workshop will include a theoretical and technical component. In the former, we will go over the strengths and weaknesses of each measure, as well as how to make informed choices on their use. In the latter, we will draw upon business related data sets to walk participants through measurement techniques. We will be using UCINET software and its visualisation partner NetDraw; please make sure that you have the trial version of this software installed on your laptop for use during the workshop. You can download the software here: https://sites.google.com/site/ucinetsoftware/downloads
The Workshop will take place in WA111 (William Arrol, Main Building), 09:00-12:00. Please meet at EBS from 08:15-08:45 for arrival teas & coffees and registration. We will then walk across to the workshop suite. Teas and coffees will also be available after the workshop at Edinburgh Business School.
