Troy, New York, United States
12 month contract

The selected candidate will work in the Network Science and Technology (NEST) Center at RPI, an interdisciplinary network science center whose members include faculty from computer science, physics, mathematics and engineering. The postdoc will work under the supervision of the NEST Center director, Dr. Boleslaw K. Szymanski, Professor of Computer Science and Physics, with close collaboration with Dr. Jianxi Gao, Professor of Computer Science, and Dr. Gyorgy Korniss, Professor of Physics.

The appointed researcher will engage in the analysis of the data on events in social networks and physical networks. The research activities will focus on mathematical and computer modeling of network dynamics; fitting the models to data, building and validating predictive models, and addressing open challenges caused by the data incompleteness, and incorrectness, or by integration of information from multiple sources.
The ideal candidate should be comfortable with the handling of large data sets, statistical analytics, network science, mathematical and computer modeling, and working with diverse areas of network science. The researcher is expected to disseminate high quality scientific and technical results, including journal articles, conference papers, and presentations and websites with computer tools and data.
