Cambridge Networks Network

Albert Diaz-Guilera (University of Barcelona) will be speaking on "New paradigms in complex networks science: time dependence, networks of networks, spatial features, multiplexity, ..."

The talk will take place on Monday 21st Jan at 2pm in FW26 Computer Lab (Cambridge)

Abstract:
I will present some of the trendiest issues in complex networks science. My focus will be in recent results obtained in our group concerning time dependent networks and multilayered networks. In the first case, time dependence is due to mobility of the nodes on a plane. Spectral properties, in terms of eigenvalues of the Laplacian matrix, are described as a function of the mobility and internal dynamical properties of the nodes. In the second case, we show some results about networks configured at different layers; in particular, how the diffusion in the whole network depends on the properties of the single networks and on those of the connectivity among layers.

Bio:
Albert Diaz-Guilera got a PhD in Sciences (Physics) at Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona in 1987. Being by education a statistical physicist, his research lines had been broadening to cover aspects in many different fields: biology, economy, social sciences, computer science, linguistics. Direct collaborations with scientists with different backgrounds have been possible by means of stays in different centers. Author of more than 80 articles in physics and interdisciplinary journals. He has given more than one hundred talks at conferences and research centres and leads the catalan complexity group complexitat CAT.
