Applications are now being accepted for the 2013/14 PhD program at IMT Institute for Advanced Studies Lucca (www.imtlucca.it).  Highly motivated candidates are invited to apply for fully-funded positions within a doctoral program that includes the scientific competences of economics, engineering, computer science, physics, and social sciences.
 
The program is articulated in four main tracks:
 
• Computer, Decision and Systems Sciences (CDSS), with thematic curricula in
• Computer Science (CS)
• Control Systems (SYS)
• Image Analysis (IA)
• Management Science (MS)
• Economics (ECON)
• Management and Development of Cultural Heritage (MDCH)
• Political History (POLHIST)

 
Courses, held in English, are led by world-renowned researchers and provide students with the necessary theoretical skills and advanced tools for rigorously tackling a multitude of analysis, design and management problems, useful for solving a large variety of economic, technical, and societal applications.

New PhD students will have the opportunity to work with theoretically physicist and complex networks expert Guido Caldarelli (http://www.guidocaldarelli.com/), author of the recently published A Very Short Introduction to Networks. 
PhD students, besides receiving the standard research scholarship of €13,600/year (amount established by Italian law), are offered on-campus housing on a brand-new and fully integrated campus in the historical center of the beautiful Tuscan city of Lucca, and daily access to the canteen. Students also get the opportunity to spend research periods abroad during the program.
