UNICEF's Innovation Unit seeks a data analyst to assist with the hypothesis test and real-time prototyping of The Tower Project. UNICEF’s Innovation Unit creates and guides approaches that are transformative, at scale, for the world’s most vulnerable children. The Unit co-leads, Christopher Fabian and Erica Kochi, were named one of TIME Magazine's 100 most influential people in the world in 2013. The Tower Project seeks to monitor and predict natural disasters and other instances of social stress by looking at new types of data such as volume of calls and SMS, in order to help UNICEF staff and partners better respond to crises. This position provides an opportunity for an experienced data analyst to gain exposure to the dynamic and quickly expanding field of big data and technology in the developing world through a lead role in a pilot innovation project that possesses great potential for scaling across new markets.  The position is for 6 months with possibility for extension and based in New York, salary is commensurate with experience and competitive with the private sector.
