Turing Lecture: Algorithmic Accountability

last modified May 23, 2017 09:04 PM

The Knowledge Centre at The British Library, 13:30-16:30, Tuesday 30th May

While we support responsible innovation, we want to be able to audit our black boxes and make sure we don’t have unchecked power. Especially nowadays when vital services such as communications, financial trading, healthcare, and transportation depend on sophisticated and often not transparent algorithms. In this Turing Lecture, Ben Shneiderman will explore how some social strategies can play a powerful role in making systems more reliable and trustworthy.
